The Last Word
by John Rulapaugh

As you can see above, we are BUSY! Praise The Lord! 2017 is shaping up to be one of the busiest and best years so far for Freedom Quartet and we are truly blessed!

We started this year with a tour to the beautiful Southwest....Texas, New Mexico, and Arizona. It's truly remarkable the differences in landscape across this great nation of ours and we love to travel and see Gods handiwork all around us. We had a great time visiting areas of the country new to Freedom Quartet and making many new friends along the way. We love to hear YOUR stories and get to know you while you're getting to know us...one of the ladies we met on this journey was the very first female police officer in the state of Alaska! Wow! What a trailblazer she was and is!

Looking forward we are excited about our 2nd Annual Freedom & Family Fest which will be held at Everette Hills Baptist in Maryville, TN this year. This is the church where our former baritone, Preston Garner, is serving as Minister of Music. We are looking forward to the concert debut of "By Grace," a trio formed by Preston along with David and Bryan Walker. Also on the program Friday night is The Supernals which have family ties for us. My father-in-law Dan Vineyard sings baritone for the group these days. Saturday night will feature a local area favorite "His Own" along with a return of "The Vineyards" featuring my beautiful bride, Jennifer, her sister Jody, and their father Dan. They'll be debuting a newly remastered recording of their previously recorded favorites and you'll definitely want to pick up a copy!

Our new recording on INSPIRE with Chapel Valley is due out soon! We believe this is going to be a pivotal moment in the career of Freedom Quartet as the alliance with Chapel Valley will lead to a significantly increased presence on radio and open new doors for marketing and advertising as well. If you'd like to be among the first to receive a copy of this new recording we are going to open up advanced purchase just for you within the next week!

Keep an eye out for our "invitation only" pre-release sale announcement!
You'll find a list of our currently available recordings and other products by going to www.FreedomQuartet.com/store

As you already know, travel is extremely expensive. Remember the last time you took a family vacation? How much did it cost you in travel expenses? Fuel, Lodging, and Food are among the most costly expenses we incur on an ongoing basis. Multiply that family road trip 48 times and you'll get close to realizing what our annual travel expenses come to. Whether we are traveling by bus (and able to enjoy all of the amenities therein) or in a van and trailer with hotel stops each night - the expense is almost dollar for dollar the same.

With that in mind, we've added a "support" page to our website and partnered with FlipCause to aid in meeting our fundraising goals. Since becoming a 501(c)(3) tax exempt organization we have been blessed with a number of folks who have chosen to offer ongoing financial support to our ministry. We are so thankful, and have realized just how effective that ongoing support can be to helping us fulfill our calling and mission of "Reaching The Lost and Encouraging The Church Through the Joy of Music." This new fundraising platform allows us to easily provide you with a tax receipt for each contribution as well as a year end summary for tax purposes. All contributions to the ministry of Freedom Quartet are tax deductible, the same as each contribution you make to your local church or other non-profit charity organizations. You can visit www.FreedomQuartet.com/support to make a a one time contribution or pledge monthly, quarterly, or annual support!

This is not the only new addition or change to our website, so I'd invite you to just start at www.FreedomQuartet.com and click through each page to see the changes for yourself. You'll notice a new set of photos as well as a few new features added over the past few weeks and months. All in an effort to keep you up to date with what is going on with Freedom Quartet.

We love and appreciate each of you! You are very much a part of the ministry The Lord has laid on our hearts and we look forward to partnering with you to share The Word through song not only across our great nation, but around the world. Take a look at our tour schedule and please make plans to be with us in concert sometime soon!

FREEDOM QUARTET SIGNS WITH INSPIRE LABEL

September 19, 2016
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Freedom Quartet, one of today’s premier Southern Gospel quartets, has signed with Chapel Valley Music Group’s Inspire label. This extremely talented group of guys have become fan favorites. In 2015, Freedom Quartet was awarded the Singing News Favorite New Traditional Quartet of the year.

Even though the group has seen much success recently, the members are no strangers to Southern Gospel music. Owner and tenor singer, John Rulapaugh, has assembled a powerful lineup. The quartet consists of popular bass vocalist, Burman Porter; longtime favorite lead, Dale Shipley; and baritone, Scott Mullins.

Recently, Freedom Quartet was a part of the Southern Gospel Music Guild’s Harmony Honors television taping. That program aired on the TBN network.

Chapel Valley Music’s Vice President, Richard Hyssong, states, “We cannot begin to tell you how thrilled we are to start this relationship with Freedom Quartet. John and I serve on the Southern Gospel Music Association’s Board of Directors and I have seen firsthand the vision that he has for this quartet and the industry. Be watching as we will be doing special Release Parties, radio singles and some really cutting edge projects that the Southern Gospel listener will love and want to be a part of.”

John Rulapaugh explains, “I have watched Chapel Valley Music for a few years and have been very impressed with their level of commitment to the artists on their labels. We are very happy to be joining a company that wants their artists to succeed at the highest level.”

Freedom Quartet’s new recording “Hymns of Faith & Freedom” produced in part by Gerald Wolfe will be released Monday September 26th at the National Quartet Convention. Be watching as there will be a special meet and greet and CD release party announcement soon.

Scott Mullins joins Freedom Quartet as Baritone

By: Freedom Quartet
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
THURSDAY, JULY 28, 2016

Sevierville, TN - Freedom Quartet is pleased to announce the addition of Charleston, WV native Scott Mullins as baritone vocalist. Gospel Music fans may remember Scott for his days with The Gospel Harmony Boys or most recently Tim Green's Trio "The Greene's."

Speaking of the groups former baritone, John Rulapaugh states "The calling to church ministry is evident in Preston's life and we are proud of the ministry that he continues in his work at Everette Hills Baptist Church in Maryville, TN”

As for the future of Freedom Quartet, "we are thankful that The Lord lead us to Scott Mullins. He is an incredibly talented singer who is in tune with the Holy Spirit, sings with deep conviction and conveys the message of the song with both feeling and expertise. Scott, along with his wife Cathy, are a perfect fit for the Freedom Quartet family and we are excited to welcome them" states Rulapaugh. Though he had performed in a “fill in” capacity prior, Mullins’ first official appearance as a member of Freedom Quartet came on Friday June 10 at The Memphis Quartet Show.

The smooth baritone of Scott Mullins is featured on the second verse of Freedom Quartet’s new single release “I Am A Christian” which is featured in Singing News’ New Music Review and is available for FREE DOWNLOAD from the groups website at www.FreedomQuartet.com.

Preston Garner Departs Freedom Quartet, Announces Future Plans

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
BY: FREEDOM QUARTET
FRIDAY, JUNE 10, 2016
SEVIERVILLE, TN

It was with sadness and utmost respect that we accepted Preston's resignation as he poured out his heart concerning God's call on his life. His contribution to the early success of Freedom Quartet will never be forgotten and his absence leaves a void not easily filled. Please pray for Preston as he begins a new phase of ministry - and for John Rulapaugh, Dale Shipley, and Burman Porter as they rely upon The Lord to lead the right man with a set of talents and abilities to compliment and improve upon the foundation that is laid for the future of Freedom Quartet.

Those interested in auditioning for the available position are encouraged to email a demo to freedom@freedomquartet.com.

Preston Garner's Statement from Facebook -

Well- if y'all will indulge me, this will be a bit of a long post. These pics are from last night at the TBN Harmony Honors concert that should air in a few weeks. I'll let y'all know. It was an incredible night and probably somewhat nostalgic for me. It was my final official performance as a member of Freedom Quartet. I have been holding off on posting anything until they were closer to hiring my replacement, and they are in that process now and will make an announcement in their timing. After much prayer and consideration, I have accepted the position as full time Minister of Music at Everett Hills Baptist in my home town of Maryville, TN. I have actually filled in for this church off and on when the group has had off weeks and such. I love these folks and when they approached me about the possibility of taking the position permanently, we felt it was truly an open door that the Lord would have us to walk through. We are extremely excited as we have already started ministry there!
I have really enjoyed my time with Freedom Quartet. The past 3 years have been some that I will cherish the rest of my life. I have literally traveled from one end of this country to the other and around the world with these guys- and it's been a blast. John Rulapaugh is, bar none, the best tenor on the road and a great friend. Burman Porter does not have a lick of sense (lol), but no one sings bass any better- and no one has a bigger heart. And Dale Shipley- what can you say- he is simply a legend, and one of the best guys you'll ever meet. All of that said- I sang with the best of the best, and I'm grateful to the Lord that I had that opportunity.
Now my heart turns back toward the local church music ministry. It has been a few years since I have officially served in this capacity. I will still do some solo dates (already have some booked), worship leading, and probably some fill in work for groups from time to time- so stay tuned! But most Sundays, you'll find me at Everett Hills Baptist- so come see me sometime. And if you live close by, and you need a church home- come check us out.
As these pics show, one of the biggest things that I'll miss on the road are dear friends that you meet along the way. I'm certain we'll cross paths from time to time- just not quite as often. Keep us in your prayers as we do our best to serve Jesus at Everett Hills! Keep supporting the Freedom Quartet boys- they're gonna be better than ever, and most importantly- press on for Jesus! Blessings! - Preston Garner
